FAMILY : PHOLADIDAE
     Barnea australasiae Sowerby, 1849
Dead shells are common at the base of "coffee rock" walls in the river. This species
is a borer that lives in wood, soft rock or stiff mud, with only the siphons protruding from
the entrance. Common on the beach as well, while live animals are rarely seen.
