Halobates sp - Sea Skater

An ocean species, found clinging to pumice on beach, after heavy swell.

Very few insects can tolerate a marine environment and be classed as truly marine.
Approx. five Halobates species are able to survive on the open sea.
The eggs of one of these species can be seen below, layed on a candlenut.
